A rich meaty dish had simply with mash, soda bread, or made into a Sunday dinner with puff pastry or fresh yorkies, some roasties and seasonal vegetables. We've used Ale from our local Wigton Brewery!

           Ingredients

           500g venison casserole

           3 carrots diced

           Handful of mushrooms roughly chopped

           1 onion diced

           Tbsp mustard or cider vinegar

           tsp thyme

           Oil of choice for frying

           Cornflour to thicken

           Method

Dice onion and fry on medium heat with a little oil until soft and turning clear, 4-5 minutes

Turn up the heat and add casserole to seal 2-3 minutes

Add garlic and 1thyme and stir in

Pour over the ale to deglaze pan and make sure all the flavour goes into the stew, bubble for several minutes.

           Add carrots and mushrooms,

Add pepper, oxo and mustard/cider vinegar,

Transfer to slow cooker for 6 -7 hours on high heat, or into the oven at 160 degrees for 3-4 hours (or until meat is falling apart).

If cooking in the oven check hourly to ensure there is enough liquid in the pot and top up as necessary with hot water.

Before serving, if the gravy is thin stir in a tsp of cornflour mixed in a little water to thicken.

           Salt to taste.

           Method

Sauté your onion and celery in a little oil on medium heat,

dice venison into 1cm chunks, add to pot and and lightly brown,

           add garlic and spices,

add tinned tomatoes, oxo and your beans of choice,

bubble away in the slow cooker for 6+ hours to have meat that's falling apart and infused with spice.

The longer it cooks the more liquid will reduce, if you plan on serving sooner and feel there's too much liquid place on a low heat to reduce further.

Serve however your family enjoy it!

Top Tip... tastes better second day.

Italian comfort food at it's best

Making pizza can be as easy as you like. You can make dough from scratch with the satisfaction of seeing your dough rise in the bowl or buy it ready made to save time, there are an number of different doughs available fresh or frozen from your local supermarket.

We pre-cook the meatballs in passata to keep them juicy, then cut them in half and put to the side. We used a tomato based sauce but you could try garlic or BBQ. Our tomato sauce is made from the earlier passata, adding garlic, salt, ground, black pepper, cider vinegar and a pinch of herbs. Spread over the rolled base followed by a liberal sprinkling grated cheddar and mozzarella, red onion, and finally the halved chilli meatballs. Bake until crisp and serve hot with salad, or potato wedges. Enjoy!

Like all busy working families we are huge fans of a one pot dinner! This is an American dish we fancied trying that's a huge hit with the whole family.

           Comfortably feeds family of 5

           What you'll need:

500g pack venison mince, passata, milk, cheddar cheese, stock cube, onion, veg of your choice, garlic, mixed herbs, ground pepper, paprika and salt

Step 1, dice an onion and vegetables of your choice, we used peppers as that's what we had, but you can mix it up using mushrooms, spinach etc.

Step2, Brown 500g pack of venison mince in an large pan, add the diced veg and cook for a couple of minutes.

Step3, add 3 cloves chopped garlic (garlic paste or powder also works), 1 tsp of paprika, 1 tbsp mixed herbs, 1 tsp salt and a few splashes of Worcester sauce.

Step4, add 1 pint of hot beef stock, one carton of passata or chopped tomatoes, half a pint of milk and bring to the boil.

Step5, add 300g dry pasta and cook on a medium high heat until pasta is cooked through, stirring occasionally.

Step 6, take the pot off the heat, stir a handful of grated cheese into the pot and place the rest on top. Place lid or tinfoil over the top and set to the side for 5 mins while you get the plates ready.

Step 7, serve and sit down to dinner (we served ours with garlic bread but could easily have had a salad on the side or had it on it's own

           Enjoy!

So folks, a lot of people ask us what meals we make at home with our products so we're going to start posting up regular ideas for you.

Today's offering, pheasant cakes stuffed with haggis and cheddar cheese.

We cook these in the oven at 180 degrees for 30minutes, just enough time to slice some potatoes into wedges, skin-on, and pop them in the air fryer with some seasoning for 25mins. We served our cakes up with peas and a peppercorn sauce. Delicious and extremely filling!
